- | * still need to finalize the world as seen from upper branch
- | * need to include some eigenfunctions
- | * continuation diagrams showing that solutions (EQBs and TWs) are robust under parametric perturbation
- | * picture of HKW periodic orbits compared to HKW turbulence. JFG finds this one compelling.
- | * need to add two slides to conclusions
- | * eigenfunctions -> control
- | * Lagrangian chaos -> turbulent mixing (maybe wait?)
- | |||
- | * to all: make sure flash pop-ups work in all of your browsers?
- | * Mac? (which I do not have)
- | * XPwindows Firefox 3.0+ OK
- | * XPwindows IExplorer 7.0+ OK
- | * Linux Firefox 3.0+ OK
- | * manually-tuned Konqueror on OpenSUSE 11.1 OK/JFG
- | * DONE: more movies of orbits; link to channelflow database and movie page --- //Predrag Cvitanovic 2009-03-25//

- | English-major editing of tutorial. Mostly spelling, commas, and particles. A couple changes in sentence structure for flow. Changed Herr Turbulence Expert's Question to Objection, since it wasn't
- | really a question. But Objection might be too aggressive, maybe change it back. Changes are obscured in diffs by very long lines of text and white-space changes due to trailing whitespace removal, which my editor now does for greater compatibility with other editors in other svn repos. //Gibson 2009-02-26 15:04 EST//

- | a morning's worth of polishing of the tutorial --- //Predrag 2009-02-26//
- | * finalized the explanation of the translational basis projection in ChaosBook.org/tutorials
- | * John, if you proofread this as English major (keep Gibson out of it for now), I'll go through the periodic orbits paper.

- | ===== Hiccups ===== | ||
- | |||
- | Firefox version seems OK, but have IExplorer woes: pop-ups OK when run locally, from the files on the computer, but ran from the ChaosBook.org webserver they come misformated, with all toolbars showing. What to do? --- //Predrag Cvitanovic 2009-02-27 03:07//

- | :-? When I click in "video formats", the following files do not exist
- | |||
- | (Quicktime .mov, h264 encoding, 18 MB)
- | (Microsoft .avi, wmv2 encoding, 22 MB)
- | (Xiph .ogg, theora encoding, 15 MB)

- | ===== Adding audio =====
- | |||
- | 8-) would be nice to add a narrative to some of the more difficult slides. As an example, here is Robert_Oppenheimer.ogg. It plays right away, embedded in my Firefox on XPwindows. The *.ogg players can be copied from its source file (have not done it yet). Check wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogg, wiki.xiph.org and xiph.org.
- | |||
- | To create an *.ogg, I use mswindows 'sound recorder' - that gives me a huge *.wav. file. Then I download OggDropXPd and drag the *.wav into its icon - result is an *.ogg file reduced by a factor of 20.
